Iloilo City to hold Dec. 1 investors鈥櫶齧eet for P139-M slaughterhouse project听

THE ILOILO City government is holding a conference on Dec. 1 to entice investors for its P139.35-million slaughterhouse upgrade project under a public-private partnership scheme.听听
鈥淭he potential revenue for this project is worth your time and investment. May this meeting become a blueprint for local leaders, private partners, and participants in ensuring a dynamic and progressive Iloilo City,鈥澨齅ayor Jerry听P.听Tre帽as said听in a statement over the weekend.听听
Under the proposed contract, the private sector partner will design,听finance,听rehabilitate, and听operate the abattoir within a 25-year concession period.听听
The existing slaughterhouse will be upgraded, including mechanization, to get听Double A standard听accreditation from the听National Meat Inspection Service, with a target capacity of 500 heads per day.听听听
鈥淭he facility鈥檚 target capacity of 500 heads per day aims to meet the growing demands for meat products in the city and nearby areas. This will also ensure the provision of adequate, safe and quality meat products for consumers,鈥 Mr. Tre帽as听said.听听听听
Iloilo City has tapped the听Public Private Partnership (PPP) Center听to assist in the project, with support from the听United States Agency for International Development (USAID).听听
鈥淧otential revenue sources for the proponent will come from user fees, and may include slaughterhouse fee, corral fee, meat delivery fee/handling fee and slaughter fee,鈥澨齛ccording to a project brief from the PPP.听鈥斕齅SJ听
