WASHINGTON听–听The chair of the听厂别苍补迟别听Judiciary Committee and the聽panel‘s top聽Republican on Mon诲补测听asked听罢飞颈迟迟别谤听Inc.聽Chief Executive Parag Agrawal聽to answer聽questions about a former company executive turned听飞丑颈蝉迟濒别产濒辞飞别谤听who is set to testify.
Peiter “Mudge” Zatko, a famed hacker who served as听罢飞颈迟迟别谤‘s head of security until he was fired last year,聽will appear Tues诲补测听before the committee.
厂别苍补迟别听Judiciary chair Dick Durbin and Republican Chuck Grassley on Tuesday asked Agrawal to answer questions by Sept. 26 including on Mr. Zatko’s allegations T飞颈迟迟别谤听“turned a blind eye to foreign intelligence infiltration, does not adequately protect user data and has provided misleading or inaccurate information about its security practices to government agencies.”
The senators said they had invited Mr. Agrawal to testify on Tuesday, but he had declined.
T飞颈迟迟别谤听declined comment.
Mr. Durbin and Mr. Grassley outlined some concerns raised by Mr. Zatko, including potentially more than half of听罢飞颈迟迟别谤听full-time employees having privileged access to company production systems. With that capability, several thousand employees can access sensitive user data, according to Mr. Zatko.
“… at the same time,听罢飞颈迟迟别谤听reportedly lacks sufficient capacity to reliably know who has accessed specific systems and data and what they did with it,” the senators wrote in a letter to Mr. Agrawal.
“With tens of millions of users in the听鲍.厂. and hundreds of millions of users worldwide, your company collects and is responsible for vast troves of sensitive data,” they wrote. “If accurate, Mr. Zatko’s allegations demonstrate an unacceptable disregard for data security that threatens national security and the privacy of听罢飞颈迟迟别谤‘s users.”
Mr. Zatko has claimed听罢飞颈迟迟别谤听had misled regulators about its compliance with a 2011 settlement with the Federal Trade Commission over improper handling of user data.
