Bronze medalist听Eumir听Felix D. Marcial, who lost by split decision to his Ukrainian opponent Oleksandr听Khyzhniak听in a semi-final match in the men鈥檚 middleweight boxing division, will come home to at least P7 million pesos total for his stint at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

He can also look forward to lifetime Mabuhay Miles per year for life from Philippine Airlines (PAL) and 2 years of free flights from AirAsia.

Here is the breakdown of his incentives so far:

  • P2 million from the Philippine Sports Commission, the required amount for bronze medalists as per听
  • P2 million from the Manny V. Pangilinan Sports Foundation听
  • P2 million from San Miguel Corp. President Ramon S. Ang
  • P1 million from Phoenix Petroleum, through the听Siklab听Atleta听Pilipinas Foundation
  • 40,000 Mabuhay Miles per year for life from Philippine听Airlines
  • 2 years of free flights from AirAsia

Zorrilla,听senior听vice听president of Phoenix Petroleum听Philippines, Inc., which hopes to encourage more support for athletes like Mr. Marcial through the private initiative听Siklab听Atleta.

Though the Zamboanga-born boxer lost in the semi-final bout, he earned his bronze medal by knocking out Armenian opponent Arman听Darchinyan听in under听two听minutes of the opening round of their quarterfinal match.听

Fellow boxer听Nesthy A. Petecio听received similar rewards for scoring a silver medal in the women鈥檚 featherweight division on August 3 while weightlifter听Hidilyn F. Diaz听got the most incentives of them all for securing the Philippines鈥 historic first Olympic gold on July 27.听鈥斕Bront毛 H. Lacsamana
