Annabelle Comes Home
DEMONOLOGISTS Ed and Lorraine Warren keep the possessed doll Annabelle in what is supposed to be a safe room, yet she awakens evil spirits in the room and eyes a new target 鈥 the Warrens鈥 10-year-old daughter and her friends. Directed by Garry Dauberman, the film stars Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, and Mckenna Grace. IndieWire鈥檚 Eric Kohn writes, 鈥淭he movie joins It and Stranger Things as the latest resurrection of the 鈥80s-kids-in-peril routine, and it鈥檚 not exactly aiming to reinvent the genre. Still, it鈥檚 something of a relief that the movie pushes beyond the usual self-seriousness of these movies to allow for a more colorful array of characters and some modicum of humor surrounding their plight.鈥
