THE legal internship program of the anti-graft body has drawn around 400 applicants from law schools across Metro Manila, according to the Office of the Ombudsman, reflecting growing student interest in public sector work and anti-corruption enforcement.
Assistant Ombudsman for Internal Affairs Luis Gonzaga S. Bonoan said in a statement on Thursday that the initiative is not limited to traditional internship arrangements and is intended to contribute to broader efforts to strengthen the public service sector through early exposure of law students to government accountability work.
鈥淚t is a deliberate investment in shaping the country鈥檚 next generation of public servants,鈥 Mr. Bonoan said.
鈥淲e鈥檙e honing their idealism, showing them that government can actually do something right.鈥
About 400 applicants are vying for 30 available slots in the program, which is scheduled to begin in June and will include workshops, legal writing exercises, and exposure to ongoing anti-corruption investigations handled by the agency. 鈥 Erika Mae P. Sinaking
