THE DEPARTMENT of Energy (DoE) on Monday said it has ordered industry players to come up with power recovery plans for the rainy season to ensure minimal power failures.

鈥淲e have required them to have resiliency plans, which include recovery plans,鈥 Energy Assistant Secretary Mario C. Marasigan told congressmen at a hearing in Filipino.

The state weather bureau in May declared the start of the rainy season. Last week, it said there is now a 70% chance of La Ni帽a by August.聽

Energy resilience plans refer to preparations by power companies in case of 鈥渆xtreme and far-reaching disasters, both natural and human-induced,鈥 Mr. Marasigan said. 鈥 Kenneth Christiane L. Basilio
