Lapid听is 7th听senator to contract COVID-19
SENATOR听MANUEL听鈥淟ito鈥 M. Lapid听has听tested positive听for听coronavirus,听his chief-of-staff,听Jericho Acedera, said on Monday.听听
鈥淎s this happened when the Senate is not holding sessions, no member of our staff has been considerably exposed except for his personal and close-in employees,鈥澨齭aid Mr. Acedera in a statement.听听听
Two of听those who came in close contact with听the senator听tested negative.听听
Mr. Lapid is classified as a听“mild to moderate鈥澨齝ase and is currently admitted at the听Medical City Clark.听听
He听is the seventh senator to have been infected by the听virus, after Senators听Juan Miguel F. Zubiri, Juan Edgardo M. Angara, Aquilino Martin听鈥淜oko鈥澨齃. Pimentel III, Ronald M. dela Rosa, Ramon B. Revilla Jr., and Richard J. Gordon,听all of whom听have recovered.听听
The Senate resumed plenary sessions on Monday with limited employee attendance.听鈥斕鼳lyssa Nicole O. Tan听
