P100-M听cash aid distributed to displaced workers in Mt. Province听听

MORE THAN听P100 million听in听cash aid听was听distributed to听over听5,000 displaced workers听in听Mountain Province through the听Labor department鈥檚 assistance program for workers affected by the coronavirus pandemic.听听
In a news release on Sunday, the听Department of Labor and Employment听said听the beneficiaries were from听six听of the 10听towns in the province, including听听
Paracelis, Natonin,听Barlig,听Tadian,听Sabangan, and the capital Bontoc.听听听
Paracelis听Mayor Marcos G.听Ayangwa听said aside from the听impact of the听pandemic on peoples鈥櫶齦ivelihood, more than 4,000 workers in his听municipality听were displaced due to typhoon Rosita in Oct. 2018, which destroyed farm areas.听听
The Labor department鈥檚听Tulong Panghanapbuhay Para Sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program provides employment听to听displaced, underemployed, and seasonal workers for a period of 10听to 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.听听听
Beneficiaries are hired for social, economic, and agroforestry community projects such as for repair, maintenance, and/or improvement of common public facilities and infrastructure, tree planting, seedling preparation, and reforestation.听鈥斕鼴ianca Angelica D.听A帽ago听听
