Quarantine for vaccinated foreigners eased

The government on Thursday approved the听rules cutting the quarantine requirements for听fully vaccinated听foreign听travelers听to seven days.听
In a statement on Friday, spokesman Herminio L. Roque, Jr. said听the relaxed rules听apply听to听people听who got vaccinated in the Philippines.听
Returning Filipinos who got vaccinated听overseas must still听undergo听a听10-day quarantine听at听a facility听and four days at home.听
A听person听is considered fully vaccinated two or more weeks after completing his听dose,听Mr. Roque听said.听
A fully vaccinated听traveler听must carry his vaccination card, which must be verified听before听departure and presented to a Bureau of Quarantine representative for verification at听the airport upon arrival听in the Philippines.听
They will only be subjected听to听a听swab test if they show symptoms within seven days.鈥听
Mr. Roque also said听an听inter-agency task force听had听exempted non-Philippine government repatriation efforts to the travel听ban听on India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Oman and听the听United Arab Emirates.听
Returning Filipinos from these countries must be quarantined for听14听days听upon arrival.听
The government on Monday extended the travel ban on travelers coming听these countries鈥痷ntil June 15鈥痶o prevent the spread of听a听more contagious coronavirus variant first detected in India.听
Mr. Roque also said the task forced听agreed听to听heighten the lockdown restrictions in听Davao City and General Santos City听amid a fresh surge in infections.听
Davao City will be under听a听modified enhanced community quarantine听from June 5鈥痶o 20, while General Santos City will be under听a听general community quarantine until the end of the month, he said.听鈥 Vann Marlo M. Villegas听
