听–听A lack of data on electric vehicle (EV)听产补迟迟别谤颈别蝉听continues to聽肠丑补濒濒别苍驳别听颈苍蝉耻谤别谤蝉听who are聽聽after mild accidents, potentially undermining听贰痴聽adoption,听罢丑补迟肠丑补尘听Research said on Wednesday.

The British automotive risk intelligence company cited a “concerning lack of affordable or聽聽and post-accident diagnostics”聽in a report entitled “Impact of B贰痴听Adoption on the Repair and Insurance Sectors” the UK Government’s innovation agency Innovate UK聽蹿耻苍诲别诲听to examine differences between听贰痴s and fossil-fuel models.

滨苍蝉耻谤别谤蝉听have complained that many听贰痴蝉听丑补惫别听no way to repair or assess听别惫en slightly damaged battery packs after accidents, forcing them to write off cars with low mileage – leading to higher premiums and undercutting gains 蹿谤辞尘听.

Batterie蝉听can make up half of an听贰痴‘s cost and听罢丑补迟肠丑补尘听蹿辞耻苍诲听补听replacement battery聽can cost聽more than the used price of the vehicle after only one聽year, making replacing them uneconomical.

Adrian Watson,听罢丑补迟肠丑补尘‘s head of engineering research, said in an ideal world聽颈苍蝉耻谤别谤蝉听肠辞耻濒诲听make informed decisions about whether to repair聽EV蝉听or write it off based on access to data on its state of health after an accident.

“The reality is that’s not the situation we’re in at the moment,” he told Reuters. “The diagnostics we have do not enable you to really know what the status of the battery is.”

Only around 1.65% of cars on Britain’s roads are electric, but听罢丑补迟肠丑补尘听蝉补颈诲听聽are already 25.5% more expensive than for fossil-fuel equivalents and take 14% longer to repair.

Due to their potential fire risk, damaged听贰痴s awaiting repair must be stored outside at least 15 meters (49 ft) 蹿谤辞尘听other objects.

An outside facility for 100 fossil-fuel cars today would have space to safely quarantine just two听贰痴s,听罢丑补迟肠丑补尘听said. – Reuters
