THE Goal Diggers YOUTH podcast, which features some of the country\u2019s accomplished sports personalities, kicked off its second season at the weekend and is looking to continue inspiring the younger generation and bringing about positive change.

\nIt will be a mixed bag of old and new faces as far as the imports go.
\nNewly minted Philippine Cup champions TnT Tropang Giga try to go for back-to-back titles with import McKenzie Moore, who is in his first tour of duty in the PBA.
\nA native of Santa Rosa, California, Mr. Moore, 29, has played for TnT as reinforcement but in the 2019 edition of the East Asia Super League held in Macau, China.
\nHe also saw action for the Mighty Sports squad that swept its way to the 2019 Jones Cup title in Chinese Taipei. In the team, he was teammates with now-TnT star Mikey Williams.
\nMr. Moore also had stints in leagues in New Zealand, Belgium, Greece, Russia, Turkey and Poland.
\nJoining Mr. Moore in the new batch of PBA reinforcements are former National Basketball Association (NBA) campaigner Shabazz Muhammad of the Meralco Bolts, Antonio Hester of the Terrafirma Dyip, Jaylen Bond of the Blackwater Bossing and Cameron Forte of the Northport Batang Pier.
\nThe Bolts\u2019 Mr. Muhammad, 28, carries with him much credentials after being selected 14th overall pick by the Utah Jazz in the 2013 draft before his draft rights were traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
\nIn six seasons in the NBA, which included a year with the Milwaukee Bucks, he averaged nine points and 2.8 rebounds.
\nHe spent the last two years playing in the Chinese basketball league.
\nThe rest of the reinforcements seeing action in the second conference of the PBA this season are composed of returning imports, led by Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings\u2019 Justin Brownlee.
\nMr. Brownlee is looking to sustain the success he has had in the PBA, where he has led the Kings to a championship each year since coming on board in 2016.
\nHe helped Barangay Ginebra to the Governors\u2019 Cup championship in 2016, 2017 and 2019 and the Commissioner\u2019s Cup in 2018.
\nFormer best import awardee Mike Harris is also set for a return, but this time for the Magnolia Hotshots after playing for the Alaska Aces in 2018.
\nMany-time PBA import Henry Walker is to play for the Rain or Shine Elastopainters while league champion Paul Harris will see action for the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters.
\nThe San Miguel Beermen will have Brandon Brown, formerly of Phoenix. Former TnT import KJ McDaniels will now play for the NLEX Road Warriors while Alaska will parade ex-Road Warriors import Olu Ashaolu.
\nAll imports seeing action in the Reinforced Conference must be fully vaccinated.
\nThe PBA is currently in talks with pertinent government agencies, particularly the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), regarding the staging of the second conference.
\nBut reports have that the league has also secured permits from the Foreign Affairs department for the above-mentioned imports to travel to the country while the league awaits government approval for the import-laced tournament.
\nThe staging of the second conference is in line with the PBA\u2019s push to have at least two tournaments this season as opposed to the lone conference held in 2020 because of the pandemic.

\nDefeated the Magnolia Pambansang Manok Hotshots, 4-1, in their best-of-seven Philippine Cup finals series, capped by a 94-79 win in Game Five on Friday, TnT is a champion for the first time since 2015.
\nIt was a culmination of a long process of transition for a winning franchise that saw it go through a number of personnel changes in search of a team that would click and get it back to the top.
\nThe journey was anything, but easy, including having no finals appearance in 11 of the previous 14 PBA tournaments. And in the three they did make it to the \u201cBig Dance,\u201d it was on the losing end, the most recent in 2020 in the Philippine Cup against the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings.
\nLeading the Tropang Giga to the Promised Land anew was comebacking PBA coach Chot Reyes, who returned to the sidelines this season after nearly a decade away to take on other pursuits, including being coach of the national team.
\nAnchored on the push of consistently bettering themselves, Reyes-led TnT overcame every obstacle that was thrown its way throughout the tournament.
\n\u201cI have to give it to these guys\u2026 They put in all the effort. They stayed together through adversity. It\u2019s been a long journey and I\u2019m proud of these guys,\u201d said Mr. Reyes during the trophy presentation at the Don Honorio Ventura State University Gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.

\n", "content_text": "FILIPINO bantamweight boxer Jonas Sultan emerged victorious over Puerto Rican Carlos Caraballo in their 10-round showdown at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York, Sunday (Manila time).\nZamboanga del Norte native Mr. Sultan, 29, proved to be a tough nut to crack for erstwhile undefeated Mr. Caraballo, sending the latter to the canvas four times en route to the unanimous decision victory that netted for him the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Intercontinental bantamweight title. \nThe Tropang Giga put themselves in great position to win the title of the ongoing All-Filipino tournament with a steady performance on both ends last time around.
\nThey used an explosive second quarter where they outscored the Hotshots, 33-15, to build a considerable lead, 57-39, at the break, and never relinquished control en route to the victory.
\nRookie Mikey Williams took charge again for TnT in the Game Four victory, scoring a team-high 26 points and going 6-of-11 from beyond the arc.

\nLorded it over the Hotshots in the series-opener, 88-70, the Tropang Giga are looking to sustain the momentum they have built and propel further their push for the title in the season-opening tournament of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
\nRookie Mikey Williams led the way for TnT in the Game One victory, which saw them go to a fast start and never seriously threatened after.
\nThe fourth overall pick in this year\u2019s rookie draft finished with all-around numbers of 21 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
\nThe Tropang Giga opened the proceedings with a 7-0 run in the first two minutes of the match, which it used to build a 24-14 advantage after the first quarter.
\nIn the second frame, the Hotshots continued with their offensive struggles and TnT capitalized on it to build an even bigger lead by the half time break, 53-34.
\nTnT\u2019s juggernaut continued at the start of the second half, with the team outscoring Magnolia, 20-7, in the opening seven minutes of the third quarter to extend its lead to 32 points, 73-41.
\nMagnolia would not recover after that.
\nBig man JP Erram had 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocks for TnT while Kelly Williams had 10 points.
\n\u201cWe wanted our focus, our energy, our preparation to be according to the rhythm we\u2019ve established. Our concern now is to be better. We wanted to be better in the finals than in the semis. I thought if we came into the finals and just put the same game we put in the semifinals, we would be in trouble,\u201d said TnT coach Chot Reyes, in the postgame press conference, of the mindset they have in the finals.
\nA concern though for the team is the status of Kelly Williams, who failed to finish the game after reportedly straining his back. The former league most valuable player was going for a dunk when he got hurt. He was brought out of the DHVSU Gym after the game on a stretcher.
\nMr. Reyes said Mr. Williams was up for assessment and that they would just adjust playing without him in Game Two if ever.
\nMagnolia, for its part, is seeking to bounce back big time after absorbing a thorough beat-up in Game One.
\nAs a team, the Hotshots only shot 27% (16-of-53) on the field, which according to the league was one of the worst in PBA finals history.
