TAKEAWAYS
Digitalization should serve citizens from 鈥榳omb to tomb.鈥
The national ID is the first step in a long journey toward consolidating government data, said Mr. Acedillo, who pushed digitalization as a means for integrated womb-to-tomb government services.听
鈥淲hat if 鈥 from the get-go 鈥 you are already in that system?鈥 he said. 鈥淚sn鈥檛 it a beautiful thing for the government to be able to 鈥 not just to provide services for you 鈥 but also anticipate your needs over the course of your lifetime? That, to me, ultimately should be the goal of government digitalization.鈥澨
The push for digitalization has to be accompanied by cybersecurity laws.
鈥淲hile you digitalize, you also increase your security. They need to go hand in hand,鈥澨 said Mr. Acedillo. 鈥淚鈥檇 like to see government legislate more of these things.鈥
We should spend more on cybersecurity.
鈥淏est practices tell you that any organization 鈥 or in this case, the national government 鈥 should spend anywhere between 2-5% of its annual budget for cybersecurity. We are nowhere near that,鈥 Mr. Acedillo said.听听
