Business angle eyed in Yulo’s murder
POLICE are considering business as a possible motive in the killing on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 17, of businessman Jose Luis 鈥淪el鈥 J. Yulo, and his driver, Allan Nomer Santos, 51, at the beltway EDSA.
National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Guillermo T. Eleazar said in a phone interview with 大象传媒 on Monday. (That鈥檚 what we鈥檙e thinking, it鈥檚 possible that it鈥檚 business, but we are still open to other motives. There鈥檚 nothing clear yet as of this time, but that鈥檚 one possible motive. But we鈥檙e still open to [considering other motives]. We鈥檙e talking to relatives, friends).
Mr. Yulo, 62, was on board a Toyota Grandia together with Mr. Santos, 51, and a companion, Esmeralda Ignacio, 38, when they were ambushed by motorcycle-riding gunmen in front of the VRP Medical Center in Mandaluyong City, at about 3:30 p.m. of Sunday. Ms. Ignacio survived the shooting.
PNP Spokesperson Senior Supt. Bernard M. Banac, for his part, said, 鈥淰isual search lang ang ginagawa natin. (Visual search is all we can do for now. This is a big challenge for us. Although we want to respect the individuals鈥 rights under the Constitution, there鈥檚 also the challenge on how to prevent a crime especially when a gun is hidden in the vehicle). Vince Angelo C.
