THE听Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)听said听Wednesday that it is currently preparing plans听with a听two-to-five-year听timeline for听a new road network in the Eastern Visayas.

The听DPWH听said it is preparing a roadmap for short-听and long-term projects aimed at helping听鈥渟pur the improvement of infrastructure services in Eastern Visayas and move the region into a virtuous circle of growth and development.鈥

鈥淎mong the projects identified for听the听long-term program [are] the 15-kilometer (km) Samar Pacific Coastal Road Project (SPCR) Phase 2, including two long-span bridges with a total length of 1.4 km with already completed feasibility study and project proposal under preparation for submission to听the听National听Economic鈥痑nd Development Authority,鈥 the听DPWH听said in a statement.

鈥淭he SPCR Project Phase 2 from听Catarman-Laoang听Road Junction to听Laoang-Palapag听Road Junction will lessen the travel time and establish a sustainable economic development foundation in Northern Samar,鈥澨齣t听said.

Another project is the construction of a 700-meter听Liloan听Bridge with听the听preparation of听a听project concept paper听ongoing.

A听1.1-km Maasin Coastal Bypass Bridge听is also the subject of听discussions听with听the听Export-Import Bank of Korea.

A 23-km Bohol-Leyte Link Bridge with听a completed听pre-feasibility study funded by Asian Development Bank will be 鈥渞evisited,鈥 the DPWH said.听鈥听Arjay听L. Balinbin
