Grab Philippines听today听launched听GrabAcademy, an online听platform听that provides upskilling opportunities to its driver- and delivery-partners. Developed with听Microsoft,听the driving training program can be accessed听through the听Grab听app.听

鈥淲e treat our drivers and riders as business partners,鈥 said Grace Vera Cruz, country head of Grab Philippines, at the academy鈥檚 May 26 virtual launch. 鈥淎s business partners, we want to develop together with them.听Nagbabago听na听mundo听natin听[Our world is changing]. With this program, we believe our partners can take a step further ahead in digitalization.鈥澨

The academy has three learning pillars divided into bite-sized modules:听safety, which includes food safety,听and harassment and emergency training; Grab听smart, which includes platform and product proficiency training; and听upskilling, which includes vocational courses like baking, farming, and milk tea-making. A partnership with barbershops is also in the works.听

Driver- and delivery-partners will receive certificates of completion upon accomplishing the听GrabAcademy听courses, which they can register for within their Grab Driver app.听

New courses will be offered monthly; in the pipeline听are听courses on听automotive maintenance and handling differently-abled passengers.听

A survey by the company showed that a lot of Grab partners are entrepreneurs. 鈥淲e want to enliven the entrepreneurial spirit by giving them options on how they could thrive online,鈥澨齭aid Ms. Vera Cruz.听听

Through the academy,听Grab partners will also be given听free access to Microsoft鈥檚 Digital Literacy certification program, which includes courses听on how to safely browse the internet and how to navigate files. These will be available in听English and Filipino. Microsoft certification is awarded upon听completing听each course.听
